Tips For Sharpening Your Relationship

Relationships fall apart for a lot of different reasons – and some of these reasons are tremendously complicated and difficult to unravel – but in addition to all the complicated reasons why relationships fall apart, there are a number of less complicated reasons, and these less complicated reasons are even more prevalent than the complicated; among the most common of these less complicated reasons is that most people neglect to sharpen their relationship on a regular basis, failing to realize that if a relationship is not constantly sharpened, it is likely to eventually become dull.

When it comes to trying to sharpen your relationship, the first step is making sure you are being consistent; there will be lots of things that can distract you from giving your relationship the care and attention it calls for, but you can go a long way in making up for any tendency you have toward neglect by always trying to find one thing per week that you can do for your significant other to make them feel special and loved – even if it is something small or seemingly insignificant.

In addition to always looking for one special thing you can do every week, you should get in the habit of making “notes” a regular part of your routine within your relationship. Receiving an unexpected note from someone always feels nice – something to let you know what you mean to them – and you can give this feeling to your significant other by remembering to regularly leave them notes in places where they are not expecting to find them; there is no need for these notes to be elaborate – a simple “I think you’re tremendous,” or “I love you endlessly” is great – but if you are regularly planting these notes in places where your significant other will stumble across them, you will be taking steps to regularly sharpen your relationship.

And focusing fully on your significant other when the two of you are together is important, but also, you need to realize that life is full of distractions, so you need to plan getaways every so often, and make sure you use these as opportunities to spend a couple days fully absorbed in the person you love!
